My name is Katie Masters and I am a professional nail tech of over 10 years and the owner of Nail Thoughts. I have a gel polish line as well as a press on line and today I wanted to talk press ons!

I know you always see companies talk about how long their press ons last and how they can last up to 2 weeks, but today I actually wanted to SHOW you! So I did a press on wear test to really answer the question- can press ons really last two weeks??

So I applied the Nail Thoughts Poppy Red Press On Nails, and started my daily journaling of everything these nails survived to really see how long I can make these last. I did these in the middle of summer and spent two weeks in the 100 degree heat in Palm Springs as well. I just felt like this cute bright orange-y red was perfect for these conditions :) Summer girl!!!! So let's get started.

Day 1 : Applied my press ons and had a chill day ! I applied them throughly and with proper prep work, that’s the KEY to making your press ons last long. If you want all the details on how to properly apply your press ons and every tip and trick I have to make them last, I wrote an 8 page free press on survival guide  (NOT Ai, just my professional nail tech information through and through) that you can download here below:

Day 2: I played pickleball for two hours. Which is always risky even with my natural nails. I have broken my thumbnails multiple times playing pickleball (my thumb sticks out w my two handed backhand so it gets bonked a lot when the ball is slammed at me too fast) so i was def worried for my two hour session. But they survived!

IMPORTANT: I also got two compliments on my nails day one!!

It was 90 degrees after pickleball so i jumped in the pool to cool down for 5 mins.

💡 TIP: Pools and soaks are a little dangerous with press ons (and any nail enhancement for that matter) because your nails expand in water then shrink back up when they dry, which loosens the nail enhancement bond over time and the glue (causing pop offs and lifting) so be careful with long swims or soaks if you really want your nails to last!

Day 3:  Basically a copy paste day of yesterday! Pickleball for an hour , in the pool for 5 mins. Again, it was also 90+ degrees during pickleball so I was really drenched in sweat.

Day 4:  Pickleball for 1.5 hours (i was really putting these babies to the test) and then just a bunch of typing for work.

Day 5: Double washed my hair! Member when I said soaking and water exposure isn’t great for your nail retention? This day made me nervous, but the nails survived my DOUBLE hair wash. I really scrubbed too.

Day 6: Average day, typing and packed press on orders. Packing orders is also a little hard on my nails just because all the cardboard boxes, but it was all good at the end of the day!

Day 7:  I played Mahjong and did just a little bit of strength training. Nothing big or huge. Strength training was literally just a 30 minute Apple fitness thing with hand weights. And mahjong.. I mean who knows maybe things could get crazy with those tiles!

Day 8 : Pickleball for two hours! Back at it! I’m a 4.0 player if that means anything to any of you, NOT TO BRAG 😏 They have officially survived more than a week at this point with no issues whatsoever.

Day 9: Pickleball for two hours and another 5 minute swim.

Day 10: Took a 45 minute really sweaty spin class , then did my own gel pedicure. That was scary because I have to use an e-file (what if I accidentally knick the nails),  and I had to wear gloves for an hour or so (which sort of soaks/expands your nails in the sweat in heat of the glove). But they survived! My only worry was the moisture slowly wearing that glue down underneath the nails with all the random swimming and the gloves. BTW I did NT-91 Orchid Syrup on my toes and they looked so cute.

Pictured: My press on nails sitting in gloves to hopefully protect them from getting damaged during my gel pedi.

Day 11:  Pickleball for two hours. Again 90+ degrees and sweaty.

Day 12: Pickleball for two hours. I mean, if these sweaty and hot two hour sessions every other day aren’t affecting the nails retention yet idk what will. Especially because the ball does get slammed at me and sometimes hits my hands and nails soooo hard it hurts.

Day 13: Washed the bed sheets and put them back on! If you’ve ever experienced bed sheet laundry day with any sort of nail, you know exactly why this is a dangerous task. Tucking that sheet into the tiny crevices, oooo be careful!!!

Day 14: TWO WEEK MARK!!! To celebrate I played pickleball again for two hours. What am I, training for the Olympics? Writing these down I didn’t realize how much I play.

Day 15: Strength training , just baby weights again, nothing crazy. And just being a summer girl.

Pictured: Me again, being a summer girl. Loved the way my nails looked w this drink.

Day 16: Here is what they looked like the day I decided to take them off!!! Still SO shiny and really, really on there still. It took up until about this point for a couple nails on my dominant hand to start getting caught in my hair just a little bit at the cuticle. And i decided to take them off to change them up anyway so it was perfect timing!

NO POP OFFS HAPPENED .
